Connection technology on METAVAK

Introduction

During METAVAK there is an area focused on the metalworking industry, in other words joining techniques are an important topic. Various welding and soldering techniques are often demonstrated, allowing professionals to view and try out the latest equipment and technologies.

The knowledge program will also focus on the latest developments in the field of connection techniques and will be discussed. This can range from new techniques to make welding more efficient and accurate, to improving the safety and reliability of the connections.

In addition, a one-day welding event is organized by our partner Netherlands Institute for Welding Technology (NIL).

What to expect?

In addition to welding and soldering techniques, various other joining techniques can also be seen on an exhibition floor focused on metalworking. This can range from using glue to attach materials together to using riveting, nailing and screwing. In addition to showcasing the latest connection techniques, a trade show floor also offers the opportunity to meet industry professionals and exchange ideas. This can lead to valuable connections and collaborations.

All in all, a trade fair floor focused on metalworking and joining techniques is an essential source of information and innovation for professionals in the industry. It offers the opportunity to discover and try new technologies and techniques, while also providing the opportunity to network and build new relationships.

Different types of connection techniques

Joining techniques refer to the various methods and technologies used to join materials together. There are countless applications for joining techniques, ranging from the production of everyday consumer products to the construction of large industrial facilities.

Welding

One of the most common joining techniques is welding. Welding involves melting two pieces of metal and then joining them together. This can be done using various methods such as arc welding, MIG welding and TIG welding. The process of welding can be very precise and can be used to join materials of different thicknesses and sizes.

Soldering

Another commonly used connection technique is soldering. Brazing is similar to welding, but instead of melting the metal itself, a brazing metal is added to join the materials together. Soldering is often used in electronics manufacturing because it requires a low temperature and does not damage the materials.

Glue

A third connection technique is gluing. Gluing is a process in which two materials are attached to each other using an adhesive. There are several types of adhesives available, ranging from simple household glue to industrial adhesives that are capable of bonding materials together with high strength.

To cut

Cutting is a crucial step in metal technology. Metal is a versatile material used in many industries, including construction, automotive, aviation and many more. To get the metal into the desired shape, it is often necessary to cut it.

There are several methods of cutting metal. One of the most commonly used methods is cutting with a saw. This can be done with a hand saw, a circular saw or a jigsaw. When cutting with a saw, it is important to ensure that the saw blade is sharp and that the saw is moved in a straight line. This ensures a neat and precise cut.

Another common method for cutting metal is cutting with a laser cutter. In this method, the metal is melted and evaporated using a laser beam, creating a cut. Laser cutting is a very precise method and is often used when cutting complex shapes and patterns.

A third method for cutting metal is cutting with a plasma cutter. This method involves heating a gas in a plasma arc, which melts and vaporizes the metal and creates a cut. Plasma cutting is very suitable for cutting thick metal plates.

Other welding techniques

Other joining techniques include riveting, nailing and screwing. Riveting involves the use of a metal pin to fasten two materials together, while nailing and screwing involve the use of metal fasteners to bond materials together.

When choosing a joining technique, it is important to take several factors into account, such as the material types, the application and the required strength of the connection. There are pros and cons to each connection technique, and it is important to choose the right technique to ensure that the connection is secure, reliable and durable.
